synopsis The story of two childhood bandmates and best friends who chose very different paths in life. After moving to Los Angeles and releasing a smash debut album, Spyder (Kevin Zegers--Transamerica, Dawn of the Dead) becomes a world-famous rock star. But when his second album flops, Spyder is forced to do some serious soul searching.
Under pressure to prove he's more than a one-hit wonder, Spyder retreats to his small hometown on Long Island after a seven-year absence, accompanied by his fiery manager, Rose Atropos (Taryn Manning--Hustle & Flow, 8 Mile). There he reunites with childhood friend and former collaborator Eric (Jason Ritter--Happy Endings, W), now a middle-school music teacher.
Accompanied by legendary rock ’n’ roll impresario August West (Peter Fonda—Easy Rider, Ulee’s Gold) and by Spyder’s band The Lost Soulz, the two old friends set off on a journey along historic Route 66 in hopes of salvaging a long lost dream and rekindling the mojo that made Spyder’s debut album such a huge success. It's a trip that forces Spyder and Eric to recall their youthful ambitions and re-examine the choices they've made. Along the way it brings the two friends closer to each other, to their destiny and to the truth behind the music.
Featuring appearances by some of the world’s greatest blues artists, a killer soundtrack, and scenes of mayhem, triumph and tragedy, THE PERFECT AGE OF ROCK ’N’ ROLL is an unforgettable wild ride along a timeless highway of our past on a quest to confront the future.
biography Scott D. Rosenbaum became a feature-film director by way of a career in financial trading and an undergraduate education in journalism. While majoring in journalism at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., he honed his writing and photography skills during internships with the press department of U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman, a Democrat from New Mexico, and in the White House media relations department under George W. Bush.
After graduating with a B.A. in Journalism, Rosenbaum pursued an opportunity with NASDAQ trading firm Sherwood Securities, becoming a member of the trading desk before joining Spear, Leeds & Kellogg in 1998, where he remained through the takeover by Goldman Sachs until 2002. That same year, he and several other former members of Spear, Leeds & Kellogg started Bass Trading, a boutique trading firm catering to active trading hedge funds and institutions.
Rosenbaum resigned from Bass Trading in 2003 to dedicate himself full time to screenwriting and to his directorial education, which included studying under the legendary director Gene Frankel at his lower Manhattan Theater until Frankel’s untimely death in 2004. Rosenbaum also studied directing under former NYU Professor Adrienne Weiss, both in New York and Los Angeles, and under Columbia University Professor Lenore DeKoven in New York.
In 2005, Rosenbaum started the production company Red Hawk Films, which financed and oversaw production of the short film Coda, which Rosenbaum wrote and directed. The film stars David Johansen (Scrooged, Married to the Mob, 200 Cigarettes) and Jasin Cadic (Handful of Dust), and was produced by John P. Adams (Heights, Infinite Darkness) and by Weiss.
Rosenbaum was born and raised on New York’s Long Island and attended the Syosset Public School system. His formative years were spent pursuing his myriad passions, including soccer, hockey, journalism, photography, music and film. Director's IMDb Page
